Snowtastic!

Snow, Round 3

Here is how it looked last night as I got home from work around 8pm.  The snow was coming down hard and fast, with over 4 inches already on the ground.  Thank goodness it warmed up overnight and decided to melt away somewhat.  The road down to the house is still slushy, but very driveable.  On another positive note, Tracyton Blvd. is finally open again down at Barker Creek.  For now they have a gravel road section over the culvert improvement they did.  I still don’t see how it took 3 freaking months to put in a bigger opening for some salmon.  Ugh.  It amazes me what we will spend money on when we have people that are homeless and starving.  What the hell is this world coming to when our priorities are so out of touch?

I have today and tomorrow off, after going back to work and having three very, very busy days.  If there is any kind of recession happening around here it either hasn’t hit yet, or people are still shopping at Costco looking for a bargain.  We have a coupon book that starts today also, so I’m sure it is driving extra traffic our way.

I am happy to report that Sidney is doing better, and is no longer trying to urinate every 10 minutes.  The kitty ibuprofen (Metacam) does a good job at reducing the inflammation and pain.  She also likes to take it, since it is supposed to taste like honey.  This means less time for me having to look for urination around the house and more time playing WoW!  LOL!

Well it is time for me to go do some chores and possibly take a short nap.  Heh, days off are nice! :)

2009… Back To Work

Making Fun of Gas Prices

The above sign is not from my Costco, it was a random one on Flickr. (It was manipulated with Photoshop)  I’m sure this was done back when gas prices were really high :)

It is back to work today after the New Year!  I spent yesterday cleaning up and fixing things, washed the garage floor and my car.  It is nice to see the sun again today, even though it is a bit chilly still.  I just got a call from my warehouse manager to see if I could change my schedule and job next week, leading into inventory.  I was an inventory auditor in my past life, and they call on me from time to time to help out.  I will work Tue-Sat next week, and have earlier hours.  This will lead me into my vacation which will happen Jan 19th - Feb 5th.  Can’t wait to get some time off from work to defuse and get things organized for the year.  Will also give me some time to get away and see friends, family, and maybe some new places. :)

Hope everyone has recovered from New Years and is having a good start to your weekend.

PS The garbage finally came today after 3 weeks of not showing up due to the snow.  Yippee!

Goodbye 2008

Front Door

I bid farewell to 2008, quite a year to journey through.  I take this time to remember all the things I experienced, good and bad.  Work, family, pets, life, thinking, games, house, cleaning, good food, crying, laughing, worrying, snow, election, fixing computers, frustration, movies, spring flowers, rainy days, warm summer nights, love, the smell of perfume, hugs, good books, hanging out with friends, world of warcraft, writing on the blog (sometimes), cleaning the decks, new landscaping, mourning, loosing a loved one, keeping hope, anger, frustration, denial, loneliness, aloneness…..

2008 was not an easy year for me, but I have no regrets.  I am at peace with where I am in my life, and excited to see what lies ahead.

Have a good New Years Eve :)

Black Friday 2

Wintery Wonderland

Well it is back to work today for me, and the adventure they call Black Friday 2.  Our Black Friday 2 involves selling lots of furniture to members that are not prepared to take it home.  It makes for some enjoyable times loading and unloading things on flatbeds.  My back also pays me back by starting to hurt more than usual. :)

My day today started with giving Sidney more pain killer for her cystitis and finding more spots out side the litter box that got tinkled on. :(  Sidney decided it was OK to start emptying her bladder on the Aerobed in the room with the upstairs litter box, so I had to move it.  It seems like she is starting to recover a bit, but if she isn’t better in the next few days I will have to take her in.  She is going to have to be put on a special diet food so her pH levels are higher.

The picture above was taken earlier in the week, much of the snow on the road is starting to disappear now.  My neighbor across the street, and down the hill, used his little landscaping tractor and removed most of the snow yesterday.  Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday week and gets a chance to get out of the house now.  Off to work I go……….

Merry Christmas

My Server Is Down

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!  I hope you are all staying warm, and starting to get out of the snow that seems to be everywhere.  I went last night to my parents for Christmas Eve and exchanged presents with everyone.  We have been drawing names every year, and my Dad got me this time.  Thanks for the funny shirt in the picture above! :)  I also got a ‘Paladin’ WoW button, WoW calendar, Rock Band guitar tree stand, and a cool DC comics encyclopedia.

I have been relaxing around the house today, looking after Sidney, who is still having some urinary tract problems.  It seems like she is doing a bit better, but still tries to go pee quite often.  I have been giving her kitty morphine twice a day on her gums, and it seems to be helping.  It is always quite stressful on me when she is pacing around the house and using her litter box every 10 mins.

I am looking forward to the new year and all the new things it will bring.  I will admit it has been hard at times to keep a positive outlook on life, but my friends and family have helped me keep my head up.  Thank you everyone for your kind words, love, and understanding.  It is almost like my life has gotten a ‘reboot’ and it is now time to start over and follow my dreams.  I hope you also follow your dreams in this new year and find something that you love.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Costco Kitty Bed

Ashley The Bed Ninja!

I took this last night right before bed.  Ashley decided to check out the new bed I got for Sidney, as she likes to sleep behind the chair in the master bedroom.  Sidney isn’t feeling well, and has another urinary tract flare up.  I have been giving her some pain killers, which she doesn’t like to take because it tastes bad.  So far today I have done absolutely nothing.  I have stuck to my plan so far.  I was tempted to go out and get out of the house, but I think I will go watch a movie and keep myself busy.  Should be dark in a couple hours anyways…. heh.

Snowy Night

Here is another picture I took last night using the tripod.  It was actually very dark out when I took this.

Snowsville

Neighbors Christmas Lights

Here it is another snowy and cold day, with time for me to do some adventuring.  I had a goal of sleeping in a bit, as to recover from the six days of work last week.  I got up around 10am and was amazed at the beautiful snowy landscape outside.  I took off for Silverdale around 12pm, and got up Payne Lane with no problems in the dependable Honda Element.  One of my neighbors up the street got her Honda Accord stuck in the road, so I helped her put her chains on.  I got to Silverdale with no trouble, but Tracyton Blvd. hasn’t even been plowed yet.  It is still shut down for the Barker Creek culvert replacement, and won’t be open now for a few more weeks.  I had lunch at Azteca with Matt and Ed, and some coffee at Starbucks after.

Now it is time for me to wash some clothes, wrap presents, and drink some hot cocoa.  Tomorrow I will be resting at home and NOT ANSWERING the phone if work calls. :)  LOL!

Snowy Driveway

Super Snowy Front Yard

Here is what I get to deal with trying to get out of the driveway.  I measured and in some places it is 10-11″.

Finally Home

Snowy Element

This is a picture I took of my Element sitting in the Costco parking lot today.  When I left the house today my car was spotless.  No snow due to having it in the garage.  It just wouldn’t stop snowing all day.  The crazy Costco members wouldn’t keep coming either.  I got home ok, but almost went in the ditch a few times going up Selbo Rd. off of Tracyton.  The snow is just too deep for anyone to be out in it.  At least I have the next two days to relax and hibernate in the house by myself (and the kitties).

When I got home tonight the cable TV and internet was gone :(  It is back for now…. just hope it stays that way.  I went outside to clear snow off the heat pump and some plants when I heard huge tree branches snapping.  I hope the snow decides to melt at a slow pace also, so we don’t have any flooding.

Hope everyone is staying safe, warm, and dry indoors.
