Where Did June Go?

Silverdale Office

Here it is a beautiful day outside and I’m about to head off to work.  The last day of June… seems like yesterday it was May.  Where did all the time go?

Things have been a whirl wind of change for me, some I have welcomed, and some not.  My emotions have been on more of a roller coaster this month, as my stability has been broken.  I get sad more often, sometimes feeling isolated and lonely.  Two voices in my head sometimes have arguments with each other over how things are going.  I have been doing my best to keep a positive outlook on things, but being human, it can sometimes be hard.

I have worked really hard in staying in the moment.  Focusing on the present… where I am, what I am doing, taking in the experience.  For some stupid reason our minds tend to want to relive or dwell on past events, or even hurry forward into the future.  It is enough to make you a bit crazy some of the time. :)

Not much going on with the house right now, which is probably a good thing.  It will be good to give me a month or two to get used to my new work place before I have to move, whenever that may happen.  When it does, I know I will have more things to worry about, and more stress to undertake.  That is life.  Change is a constant.

Well I better go get ready to head on down to Gig Harbor and start the work day.  Hope everyone has a fun and safe week….

Adjusting to Change…

Goodbye Cake

Here it is, coming up on my first week at the Gig Harbor Costco.  It amazes me how much of a time warp the last few weeks have been.  Life never does slow down, does it? :)

It has been a little harder to get out of bed this week, knowing I will not be heading to that familiar place I spent half my life working.  It is hard to leave behind those things that we are familiar with, and bring comfort in knowing it will be the same day after day.  Ironically we also seek out some change along with the stability of life.  I just didn’t know this past year would include a lot of it…..

I am amazed that the drive hasn’t been as bad as I thought it might be.  The only thing going on that slows things down is the Ollala overpass construction.  They are supposed to be done with it in the fall, which will make the commute even better.

I am also working many six day weeks for awhile, since they are short handed with management on the Front-End.  My next day off with be next Thursday, and the 4th of July.  Can’t wait to get through the first stretch of hard work, and more familiar with my new home.

Goodbye Silverdale……

Goodbye Silverale

Here is a picture I took as I left the Silverale Costco for the last time.  Exactly 19 years and 1 month later than I started.  The fun all began on May 21, 1990…

I put up some more pictures on my Flickr page of my last day of work there.  It was a bittersweet ending on a chapter of my life I will never forget.  So many memories… so many memories.

I have already worked two days at the Gig Harbor Costco, and the drive isn’t that bad.  Takes about 35 minutes to get there, even going the speed limit.  The warehouse is nice, new and shiny.  It is a mix of Silverdale, Tacoma, and new hires.  I feel real welcome there, and I’m sure I will adjust to my new home here very soon.  I have today off, and will be working the next seven days.  Hopefully I can get some well needed rest today and do a little cleaning around the house.  The weather is keeping me from going outside and doing any yard work… this is a good thing :)

Countdown

Well here it is, the countdown of the last days at the Silverdale Costco.  The last few weeks have been a blur for me.  Seems like time is accelerating since not much has changed.  I need to get the house sold sometime this year so I can move on with things.  It is a bittersweet change heading to the Gig Harbor Costco, as I have spent half of my life working at the one store.  It is really hard to fathom that I have been at one place for so long, and never thought I would be.

The last few days at work have been crazy, grueling, stressful and depressing.  Not a good way to end your last week at a place that is like home.  Hopefully these last three days turn out a bit better, and don’t have so much drama included.  I have been trying to get to bed at a decent time when I get home from work, which is usually around 11pm.  This means I’m not able to wind down, like I should, and getting to bed between 3-4am.  Even getting up at 11am or so, I still feel exhausted and tired from the previous day.  Hopefully with a different schedule soon, I will be able to get back into the swing of things.

Well off to work I go… a few more days and another chapter in my working life will begin.  Woot!

Heading Out

Well here it is day number two of warmth, and I’m heading out to do it all over again at work.  Yesterday was slow, as expected, but we needed the break.  All I know is that come tomorrow and Saturday when the weather normalizes, all hell is going to break loose!  LOL!

I got word yesterday that they would like me to come on down to Gig Harbor and supervise on the Front End there.  It is nice to finally have some change in my life that will keep me on my toes.  I have spent the last 19 years in the Silverdale warehouse, which is hard for me to even fathom.  There will be some familiar faces down there, but a few of them are actually coming back to Silverdale.  Strange how everything all happens at once, a flurry of activity.

Hope everyone stays nice a cool, and/or your able to enjoy your day off in the sun.  As for me I will be inside selling stuff and saving the world one member at a time :)

Working Time

Forklift Time

Well here it is my Monday, and that means back to work again.  It is going to be really warm today, so it is probably going to be on the slow side.  I had a good three day weekend, as I carried over my extra Memorial Day off to last Sunday.  Got a lot of things done around the yard and house.  Also dropped the price on the house to $375k, to see if we can get some more activity in this slow market.  You never know what will happen this day and age.

Nothing else to really going on around here, just staying out of trouble :)  Hopefully something more interesting will pop into my mind soon, and an the blog.  LOL!

Pausing

It is such a nice day outside today. Hard to go to work and concentrate on anything. We are closed on Monday, which means most members will be in today to get some BBQ goodies.

Things have been about the same for me, feel like my life is on pause. :) Same thing week in, week out with little change. I know things will happen soon enough, but at times I feel like I am missing out on things. What they are, I am not even sure. I guess that might be the problem. When your not sure of who you are, where you are, and where you want to end up…. your perception of things can be frustrating.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and holiday. Not sure what I will be doing yet, just staying paused. :)

Back to Work…

I just noticed I did not post anything on my blog the whole time I was on Vacation! LOL!  Well… except for the first day and my birthday.  I can’t believe how fast that 10 days went by.

Today it is back to work for a short four day week, since I took my last floating holiday yesterday.  I actually get everything back on the 21st, so it isn’t like I’m hurting for vacation time.  Sidney had a minor urinary flare up, and seems to be doing better today.  Always takes between 4-5 day for her to improve after I start her on a cat anti-inflammatory.   The other kitty Ashley, tried eating some ribbon on my birthday, and actually threw it right back up.  Thank goodness, as I didn’t need to take a trip to the vet.  She is very sneaky about getting into things behind my back.

Well I better get a bite to eat and then head off to the big ‘C’….

38 Years

Today I moved past 38 rotations around the Sun.  Amazing how fast time flies by when your having fun :)

As I am celebrating my birthday with my Mom on Sunday the 10th, I decided to take it easy today, my first day of Vacation.  I have made a pledge to myself to do no work today, and this includes cleaning around the house.  So far I have been somewhat successful, except I did start organizing some stuff in the computer room and had to stop myself.  LOL!

Think I will be heading out to a birthday dinner and having a nice relaxing evening.

Out Of Your Element

Here I sit literally out of my Element, as it gets an oil change and tire rotation. I have had two nice days away from work to get some of the things done that were on the back burner. Yesterday involved mowing all the three lawns and cleaning up around the house. The housing market is still in a major depression, so I don’t have much hope of it selling this year. You never know though….

I sit here typing on my iPhone Wordpess application as I listen to the new Depeche Mode album: Sounds of the Universe. I really like the variety of the sounds on this album, with all the old analog synth. I guess Martin Gore, the main song writer had an E-Bay addiction and was buying on average another old synthesizer every day. Guess it helped shape the sounds on this album. :)

Other than that things in my world have been calm. It can be good to have a time in your life when you can just sit back and observe. I don’t have to do anything for anyone but myself. I think I have almost found my center again and found Peace.

Peace will come to me
Peace will come to me

I’m leaving bitterness behind
This time I’m cleaning up my mind
There is no space for the regrets
This time I will forget

Peace, Depeche Mode: Sounds of the Universe

-Marc :)
